A Dramatic Story About a Man “Off His Meds”
A couple of weeks ago, I woke up to a man shouting at the top of his lungs at, well, himself.
He kept saying the same thing over and over again as if he was talking to someone about travelling. It was 5 a.m.. He wasn’t going anywhere, and he definitely didn’t have a travel buddy to chat with.
From my experience with those who have mental illness, it sounded like he may have been sick and off of his meds.
Why do patients go off their meds? They feel like everything is okay and their health has improved. Then, after not taking their meds for a few days, they end up getting arrested in an alley downtown for disturbing the peace at 5 a.m..
If you started a coaching program, exercise regimen, diet, or similar course in personal/professional development – stay on track.
The activity that generated great results for you still works.
You’re not successful “just because”. You’re successful because you executed the right behavior that created new and better results.
Stay the course.
